I live freely, basking in sunlight’s glow,
Chasing and playing, where joys overflow.
I leap to the desk, ink spills like streams,
Stride on the piano; a grand chord gleams.
I graze the stars as a girl softly waits,
Venus ascends, bound by celestial gates.
Sunlight stirs life, a season’s grand bloom,
A blaze within dispels spring’s gloom.
The neighbor’s beauty, panda-eyed and rare,
Nestles in warmth beneath rooftops’ care.
Newton proclaims space, steady and slow,
Life feels sweet; I’d wish for centuries to grow.
Beyond the fence, dark cypresses loom,
Cold stone tablets guard a silent gloom.
Bones below whisper of deeds once done,
Where nobles and commoners rest as one.
A squirrel free-falls into death’s embrace,
A pine cone tumbles through quiet space.
Schrödinger traps me in the box’s gloom,
My pupils flicker, green lights softly bloom.
The Geiger ticks as radium wanes,
Poison waits; its ancient tale remains.
Bohr rolls dice; the cosmos obeys,
Einstein protests as reason frays.
Both alive and dead, in paradox I stray,
The secret collapses as the wave gives way.
Human will commands the grand domain,
Yet classical thought falters, its grasp in vain.
“Curiosity killed the cat”— but is it true?
Perhaps I still linger, in quantum’s shadowed view.
SELECTED WRITING
Poems to enter
and return to.
Three poems by Quantum, selected from the revised manuscript of An Introduction to Scientism Poetry.
Creeping, touching ground to root,
Struggling to survive,
The wildness of an invasive species.
Turning wind, snow, and thunder
Into black berries,
Reviving the mulberries of home—
Echoes of childhood.
Fingertips brush the keyboard,
Pouring silent, knotted thoughts.
Tapping softly,
Even softer.
Before
The black keys shatter.
Before
Red blood seeps out.
I ripple soft across the sea
Boundless, flowing, wild, and free.
A wave that bends, expands, fades —
A form unseen in shifting shades.
I am the particle sharp and clear,
A single point that draws you near.
My motion cuts a fleeting line,
A path through space, a mark in time.
Yet these are names we cast to hold,
Old frames for truths too vast to mold.
A realm too strange for thought to bind,
Where light escapes and meaning unwinds.
Wave or particle, both and none,
A cosmic dance, a paradox spun.
In quantum depths, the riddle glows,
Where wonder lingers and nature knows.
